The sea, the climate, the natural resources, the monumental artistic heritage, the arts, the traditions ... each of these resources makes our city unique and extremely rich in "Beauty".
The two famous and appreciated designers Dolce & Gabbana have chosen Sciacca for their fashion show last summer and have enhanced and exported our wonders around the world. This led us to reflect and ask ourselves: "Why can't this enchanting land take off? Who clips her wings preventing her from taking off? "
The two famous designers Dolce & Gabbana are depicted in the front of the float: they hold up a large carpet with the same designs and colours as those donated by them to the city, as a sign of gratitude, after their fashion show. The carpet acts as a launching pad to allow the central subject of the float to fly off: a winged girl, the symbol of beauty, adorned with veils and corals, with the precious signs and colours of our Land (Sicily). She, with her large wings, will try to fly but this will be prevented by the huge character placed behind her. He, the symbol of evil, has moulded with the negative signs of bureaucracy, bad politics and crime: he is Joker, the famous film character. He is holding two large scissors which he will use to cut the wings of the beautiful girl, preventing her from taking off. The float is enriched with various artistic elements that symbolise our beauties.
The title of the Float "Volere Volare” (Wish to fly) also indicates the hope that one day our land (Sciacca) really takes off and fully develops.
