DOPPIO JOKER

Composers: Giuseppe Corona, Accursio Sclafani

Author: Vincenzo D’Asaro

Sometimes in life we mate, it's double-dealing that we make, isn’t it? You get burned, you lose faith and it won’t come back
You know, there is a double meaning in everything and you will have to find it out...
tough faces as hard as bronze that will never be ashamed...

It's Carnival !! Came on treat yourself with a smile tonight then it will come out as a funny but spontaneous laugh
and put on your face, the real one
do not double-cross here too...
Enjoy this air and this atmosphere ...
Paradise is here if there is this carnival!!!

How many masks you meet on the street and then however it goes they laugh at you
recognise that true friendship, friends of trazzera[1]
we do not know how many of them there are...
In life more than a hundred thousand faces in the world you will meet
angelic faces with round faces,
and when you just turn around they betray you

It's Carnival !! Came on treat yourself with a smile tonight then it will come out as a funny but spontaneous laugh
and you put on your face, the real one
do not double-cross here too...
Enjoy this air and this atmosphere...
Paradise is here if there is this carnival!!!

«You will learn to your cost that in the long journey of life you will meet many masks and few faces » (L. Pirandello)
Never get up from the table where you are talking behind someone’s back because at the moment we leave we will become the subject of the gossip.
How many faces does the other person have? Who can we trust? In this age we are surrounded by people who play the Double Joker (double-crossing) card: it seems that we must always look over our shoulder, it seems that we must always be alert and analyse the poker face of the people who are in front of us.

We are warned by social media posts, from news reports, from the often-rotten trend of local, national and global politics and the warning message is: "Attention! Behind every compassionate face, there is a sharp knife. Behind every promise a Pinocchio. Behind each clown a persecutor”.
The Double Joker (double-crossing) haunts us. And maybe we can never get rid of it! Yes! Maybe never. Because we all have "one, nobody and one hundred thousand" faces. But this is not cruelty. It is simply human nature. Nature that allows us to decide what of us to show and to whom; how much to open our hearts in the different situations we face; what role to play (of the thousand that we have) in the matches of life.
Our countless faces serve to protect us, to defend us, but also to make us flexible in this eternally evolving world, to change and adapt to it.
Our faces are our protective shields, but it is also true that they can transform into weapons used to attack.
And who decides how to use them?
Who decides which one to wear between the faces of our Double Joker (double-crossing)?
