Like every year he arrives
in these carnival days
I make you feel carefree
And I amuse you
With this flatterer face
I walk around the square
And with this melody
I make you fall in love

Sicilian Peppi Nappa
You bring joy in this town
And smoking this cigar
You are better than a lord
With this funny coppola [1]
The shirt and the waistcoat
In these carnival days
You of Sciacca are the king.
Sicilian Peppi Nappa
You bring joy in this town
If I see you from afar
You make my heart leap
You are pretty funny
Make all of us fall in love with you
You face is a beauty
That I cannot forget anymore
My Trinacria[2], Sicily
Pearl of the blue sea
You are an extraordinary flower
That fills me with joy
The scent of the countryside
and the sea-breeze
a beautiful Tarantella [3]
that gets everyone dance
Sicilian Peppi Nappa
You bring joy in this town
And smoking this cigar
You are better than a lord
With this funny coppola [4]
The shirt and the waistcoat
In these carnival days
You of Sciacca are the king.
Sicilian Peppi Nappa
You bring joy in this town
If I see you from afar
You make my heart leap
You are pretty funny
Make all of us fall in love with you
You face is a beauty
That I cannot forget anymore

PEPPE NAPPA 2020

Author: Vincenzo Mandracchia
Peppe Nappa, the emblematic mask of our beloved carnival, this year in the float is surrounded by Sicilian beauties like historical monuments, amazing dishes and fruits of our land.
On the float, dressed as a folklore dancer, he arrives at the carnival like a storyteller and his tale are accompanied by a tambourine sound. During these five days, he is going to entertain us to remind us of the importance of the historical, artistic and cultural traditions of Sicily.
In the front part of the float, a decorated "bummuliddu” (a pottery container) is found and next to it, among the details of Sciacca monuments, typical Sicilian desserts like the cassata and the cannolo are placed. Ceramics and some part of the Sicilian cart (our ancient mean of transport) are also found on the float. On the back of the float, is located the symbol of our land, the “Trinacria” with the face of a kind lady and two big wings on the upper part.
